Winchester Depot. Digital photograph by Kenyon F. Karl on July 6, 1998.
The Winchester Depot is privately owned and is currently being remodeled for business purposes.
A Spot-check conducted on July 6, 1998 at all of the crossroads shows that the trail is obviously usable eastward from the Winchester Depot. However, the trail is closed for about a mile northwest of the Winchester Depot. Hence Howard Street, Woodward Street, and a few feet of Old Spofford Road should be used as a bypass to reach the usable section of the trail northwest of the Winchester Depot!
A spot-check made on May 19, 1998 shows that the Asheulot River Bridge in Winchester has been provided with the deck and railings required for safe trail usage.

A small convenience store, a diner, and a pizza parlor are located in the Business District of Winchester, a short distance across the river from the Winchester Depot. Toilets and water are presumably available upon request at either the diner or the Pizza Parlor.
Conant Public Library is located on Main St, presumably in or near the Business District that is across the river bridge from the Winchester Depot.
