USGS Topographic map of Cold River
Spot checks made on July 6, 1998 notes that the railroad bridge over the Cold River is missing. Except for this substantial problem, it may feasible to extend the rail-trail as far as former grade crossing of Route 12. Note that the end of the active track of the Green Mountain Railroad ends just north of that former crossing, although that track is used for long term storage of unused railroad cars.
Note that the farm road that runs west and downhill to the railroad bed from the newly constructed Rite Aid Drug Store on Route 12 south of the Cold River might be the most cost effective place to terminate the trail.
