This location is particularly difficult to identify since the railroad bridge and the associated 1.1 miles of track between Franklin Jct. and Franklin Falls was abandoned in 1942. The junction was probably located about 0.2 mile south of a  privately owned white gazebo that is visible from both the highway and the trail. Note that the abandoned bridge abutments are behind the gazebo.

Trail access is available at the following points:

• Private road crossing from the adjacent Rte 3 about 0.2 mile north of Franklin Jct. This private road passes the white gazebo to serve a nearby residence.
• Able-bodied trail users can reach the trail at numerous points wherever the trail is immediately adjacent to US 3.
