The Raymond Depot is owned by the Raymond Historical Society (PO Box 94, Raymond, NH 03077). A railroad caboose, refrigerated car and a tiny switching locomotive is on display adjacent to the trail, as well as a speeder used for track inspection and maintenance purposes. The interior of the station contains pictures and artifacts from the history of the town. This building is open to the public on Saturdays & Sundays from 1 to 4 pm.
A picnic table is located under the roof on the east
side of the Raymond Depot.
A
municipal parking lot is located between the tiny town common and
the depot on a road that leads uphill from the (unused) front
entrance of the depot. Overnight parking requires the permission
of the Town Selectmen.
Donna's Longbranch Restaurant is across
Main Street from the Depot and operates from 6 am to 1 pm on
weekdays, and 7 am to 11:30 pm on weekends and holidays. A pizza
parlor is adjacent to the Depot, with an ice cream window facing
the Depot. Toilets and water are presumably available upon
request at either restaurant during operating hours.
The
Dudley-Tucker Library is located on the town green a short
distance north of the Depot.
The Statewide
Bicycle Route System parallels the rail-trail on Route 27, about
0.6 mile northwest of the Raymond Depot.
A large supermarket
is located just north of the busy Fremont Road trail crossing
(Route 102-107). Toilets and water are presumably available upon
request during store hours. Limited trail parking may be available at the
store if cars are positioned so that they do not interfere with
shoppers and truck traffic.
A Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds are clearly
visible from the Fremont Road crossing
(Route 102-107). Toilets and water are
presumably available upon request at McDonalds during store
hours.
A pizza parlor was noticed in the small
shopping center just southwest of the road crossing
(Route 102-107).
Toilets and water are presumably available upon request during
restaurant hours. Limited trail parking may be available at the shopping
center if cars are positioned so that they do not interfere with
shoppers and truck traffic.
Ample
parking is available at the Park & Ride lot for Route 101, about 0.3 mile
south of the Route 102-107 crossing. Because of the presence of the highway
interchange, Route 107 is likely to be a heavily traveled road!
The Statewide
Bicycle Route System parallels the rail-trail on Route 27, about
0.2 mile north of the Route 102-107 crossing.
The privately operated
Pine Acres Family
Campground may be reachable from the Raymond Depot via
lightly traveled town roads. Note that the Webmaster has not
spot-checked this campground.
