The adjacent volunteer fire department has reportedly purchased the remains of the Depot building and thus the restoration of the building is apparently underway as a civic effort.
A spot check made on May 19, 1998 suggests that the trail is open and usable in both directions from this point.
A specific parking area has not been designated at this location for trail users. However, parking space is apparently available on the grass behind the Fitzwilliam Depot building. Cars left on nearby streets must be positioned so that they do not interfere with fire engines from the adjacent fire station!
A convenience store is located across the street from the Depot building.
Vermont Transit (#1990) serves the settlement of Fitzwilliam at the Fitzwilliam Inn (1.2 miles northeast of depot) on a daily basis with intercity bus service between Boston, Keene, Brattleboro, and Rutland (#1990). Note that northbound busses do not stop except to discharge passengers. Since Fitzwilliam is not listed as an agency station, it is unlikely that checked baggage and bicycles in boxes will be handled at this stop.
The Fitzwilliam Public Library is located on the Village green, presumably in or near the Fitzwilliam Common Historic District (1.2 miles northeast?).

Rhododendron State Park is features 16 acres of wild rhododendron plants. Paths and trails offer great views of the plants and the mountains beyond the park. There is a picnic area and a historic cottage on the site as well. Complete information about this State Park and its nature trail is provided in the book Nature Walks in Southern New Hampshire by Julia Older and Steve Sherman, published as a Nature Walks Book by the Appalachian Mountain Club.
