This trail may not be suitable for
human and animal-powered users west of Barrett during the warm-weather months!
USGS Topographic map of Barrett
West across Gale River Bridge. Digital photograph by Kenyon F. Karl on October 8, 1997.
The railroad had a passing siding at this very rural point in the far eastern part of Lisbon for its own operational reasons.
Public access to the trail is at the Streeter Pond Road crossing, across the bridge from Route 302.
No other public facilities are available to trail users in the vicinity of this station!
Note that Howie's Model Railroad Museum and Shop is located on Route 302, about halfway between Sugar Hill and Barrett Stations. Because the trail is across the river from Route 302, the only access to Route 302 is at either one of these two points. Unfortunately this section of Route 302 is hazardous for trail users due to the heavy traffic, narrow pavement width and the complete absence of shoulders!
