The Webmaster is unable to construct a traditional mileage chart from historic railroad sources. Accordingly, this table of significant points  has been constructed as a means of organizing the pictures and other information collected by the Webmaster.

This section of railroad line is of particular interest to the New Hampshire Railroad Revitalization Association as a potential part of an East-west railroad line that uses the Northern Line and the Portsmouth Branch to link Burlington/Montpelier VT through Concord NH to either Portsmouth NH or Portland/Augusta/Bangor ME. The NHRRA is well aware that the State already owns the currently unused right-of-way of the Portsmouth Branch across the west side of Manchester. Such a route would add the city of Manchester to the points served by this East-west railroad. However the NHRRA notes that the right-of-way west of Candia has been tragically blocked for railroad purposes at three locations:

Because of the high financial and political cost of constructing a modern railroad underpass under these extremely busy highways, the careful preservation of this long forgotten route could easily be a far more cost-effective solution to the problem of reconstructing an East-West railroad for the transportation needs of the 21st Century. In spite of the fact that the Candia-Suncook segment was abandoned about 140 years ago, most easily observable portions of this ten mile section of railroad bed has been remarkably well preserved. But like everything else, this currently unprotected railroad bed could easily be ruined within a period of years by unchecked suburban sprawl!
